Howard Poon
If you were to define what it is that makes someone suitable to care for the musculoskeletal and fitness needs for a whole range of people who come from many walks of life it would be someone who is experiencing much of what life has to offer.
This might be someone with a good, but appropriate sense of humour, someone who holds a place in his own community by being involved in local soccer competitions. Someone who actively participates and leads music sessions at his church and finds time for members of his own family and friends.
Howard Poon doesn’t live to the beat of a different drum; he lives to make a difference in his chosen profession. Graduating from the University of Western Sydney in 2010 Howard took up employment as an Exercise Physiologist at MediGYM in Mosman.
It was here that Howard was able to follow the lead of Monte Elissa and provide post-operative, rehabilitative and remedial management and treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions for over 50s in a gymnasium environment.
In the relatively short time that Howard has been at MediGYM he has become an integral part of the organization, to the point that he was able to manage all aspects of the business whilst the boss was on holidays.
It would be fair to say whether you are a patient, a colleague, an acquaintance or a friend of Howard Poon, you will find you will be “kicking goals together”.
Elizabeth Kerridge
Do you ever feel like you are being given advice by someone that has never walked, or limped, a mile in your shoes. Elizabeth Kerridge (Libby) is sixty and has kept fit and active despite having had a back injury and having raised a family.
Libby graduated from physiotherapy at the end of 1972, and has had vast experience in the profession – from instructing childbirth education classes, managing sporting injuries, treating musculo-skeletal and neurological conditions through to being part of a community health team. Her professional life has seen her practice in major hospitals both in Australia and overseas, in a sports institute, private practice, and even for a short time with the Royal Australian Navy. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience behind her.
Libby knows the importance of continuing professional development and has completed courses such as “Explain Pain”. “Pilates for Physiotherapists”, and more recently the basic level of a Bones for Life Certificate, which is a Feldenkrais based program of preventative strategies for osteoporosis. Added to this are courses on Power Plate Acceleration Training, including use of the Power Plate for women’s health issues.
Libby recognised that there is more to treating the physical ailments of her patients and has completed an Advanced Diploma in Community Services, which positions her well to understand and address the emotional and personal components of rehabilitation. She is therefore able to offer a comprehensive skill set for the benefit of all of her clients.
And in her spare time, if there is any, Libby likes to read, swim, exercise, garden and travel.
